Happy Birthday, Ting!

It was a double celebration for my good friend, Ting this week - with 2 separate groups, both whom we knew from our Triumph days. It was a simple celebration, nonetheless we all had great fun. I guess when you've reached a certain age, sharing enlightening moments with your friends and catching up with each other meant much more than any fancy, expensive dinner or partying at clubs. Happy 3*th, Ting...

The first gang - a ladies' nite

The birthday "pan"cake

The second gang. Spot the rose amongst the thorns?

Homemade steamed prawn dumplings a.k.a "har gau"

Stir fried mixed vege with fresh scallop

Salted egg rolled in fish paste

Jellyfish marinated in Thai sauce

The whole platter

Hakka "Poon Choy". All types of vege and seafood, all in one

"Tau fu Kang"

Sharing a light moment when about to have "sau meen" for longevity

Fruit platter

The Sous Chef and the birthday girl

We had great food (thanks soooooooo much, mom!) and a wonderful time.

Surprise Turn Up

Grace, our ex boss returned from Shanghai on a short trip. It is customary that the gang would meet up whenever Grace is back and it will surely be at our favourite mamak place. This time round, we were more amazed by another person's presence, not Grace's!

So astonished, we had to buy 4D! Unfortunately, it wasn't the lucky number.

The ex Triumph Family just got bigger over the years

It was a feast at the mamak

What I've Been Up To

Life seems a little lonely without Pete around. Apart from working on weekdays, I haven't been doing much over the weekends. Most days are spent just lazing around and catching up with some reading. Thank goodness for Mom and Kakak whom has been taking great care of me, ensuring my meals and diet is well nourished. Thanks Mom, you are the BEST!!!

My latest read. A good book for any first timer parent. Highly recommended! Thanks Sis Su Zan, for the book!!

My once in a month pamper routine. Pedicure!

Occasional pack lunch to work

Happy Father's Day

I was in dilemma where to bring dad for dinner on Father's Day. Knowing that he's a "seen it all", "tasted it all" kinda guy, I decided to bring him somewhere he's never tried before. I was recommended a "Tai Chao" place in Dengkil (approximately 40 minutes drive from Bukit Jalil). The food was apparently good and cheap. We had quite a fare, just the four of us (Dad, Mom, Kakak, Myself and oh... baby too!). 5 dishes altogether. The verdict? The food was tasty but honestly, nothing great. The other cons would be that we waited an hour before our dishes were served (there was only one cook - the owner himself!). Nonetheless, the bill was waaaay affordable. All in all, I wouldn't come back to this place for a loooooooooong time :)

The "Ziu Pai". Not easy to find this place at first. We missed it along the way

A small place, but it was crowded. Mostly locals around there, we believe
The 3.5 stooges - Dad, Mom, Me and Baby

Our first dish served. Deep fried fish, soaked in "ziu pai" sauce

Fishball steamed with Tofu. Never tried Tofu this manner before. Something simple and plain to neutralize the table

Stir Fry Paku vegetable. I think you can hardly find this dish in KL

Mom getting ecstatic over the jumbo prawns

Scrumptous prawns

"Pak Zham Kai" which was really tasty. The best I had the night

Nothing was spared on my plate!

The table was cleaned too... well... almost!

Durian Fare. After dinner, my good friend Ting came over and brought us some durians. Though I was so full from dinner, I couldn't resist one biji. It was YUMMY!

Me trying to convince mom to try a little. Look at her reaction! Hehehe...

All Packed Up

Pete's back to Sibu, East Malaysia again. It was the most unexpected posting, knowing that Sibu was never listed as one of the hospitals specialists would be absconded to. He's expected to serve for at least a year there. He's left on Tuesday and now I'm all alone... again *sighs*

Trip up North

It was a public holiday last Saturday and the girls finally decided it was time to meet again. So it was a short trip, long journey up north (to Ipoh first, followed by Penang). It was a trip filled with loads of fun and FOOD, FOOD, FOOD!

3 girls and a pregnant woman!

Ting, Lih Rong and her cutie pie, Chloe

Oooohh... Har Mee, or what's better known in Penang as Hokkien Mee

Now 4 girls and a pregnant woman!

The highlight of the trip was Durians! Jiin Ling brought us to her family friend's durian farm. We have never had so much durians in our life!

Mmmmm.....finger lickin' good

The gang enjoying it to the core

Our Master durian opener! Without him... no durians to eat lor!

See... everyone is just crowding around Pete, waiting patiently for him to open up the king fruit. All the hard work, really...

Look at the amount of durians consumed!

Dinner with the gang. Thanks, Jiin Ling for the treat!

The famous Char Koay Teow frying stick

The next morning, we went to the famous Lorong Selamat Char Koay Teow. All worth the wait and paying RM6.50 for it, really!

Aunty Char Koay Teow hard at work

A Well Deserved Meal

Pete finally graduated as an Opthalmologist. I decided to treat him dinner one night. The bill costed a bomb, but nevertheless, we had great seafood and a great time

Snow crab. Yummy!

Some kind of seafood... I can't even remember the name! But tasted good
